Date: 2014-07-14 05:36 am (UTC)At first, the King of Asgard had kept Steve Rogers in a cell with glowing walls, and he'd gloated at him. There'd been words exchanged, angry ones, but no amount of the human's strength could penetrate a cell's wall that had been designed to stand up to an Asgardian.
Eventually, though, Loki had had him moved. There was just too much risk to Rogers being in a cell where a guard might hear him speaking, might be persuaded, eventually, to wonder and question why their King, the All-Father, kept one of the Avengers in a cage, even if he talked of Loki and seemed to be a madman.
So for a while now, Steve had been locked in the All-Father's chambers - Loki's chambers. Loki returned from a tiring day on the throne each night, unlocked Steve's chains and allowed him food and a bath and other such necessaries - under strict supervision, of course. Sometimes, Steve made it necessary for Loki to hurt him, and then he would be chained for days at a time, until Loki felt inclined to give him another chance.
It had been a while since Steve's last overt rebellion. Tonight, Loki returned and locked the door, sealing it with whispered spells and reinforcing the spell that ensured no sound could travel to the guards outside. Then he stepped closer to Steve, who was chained to a bench by the window today.
He bent to touch the cuffs, and they released, a tiny metal circlet on each wrist all that was left. "I apologize for being later than usual," he said. "There was a minor matter I needed to attend to."

He might have been strong, but somehow these were stronger. The first time Loki had unchained him, he retaliated. He'd thrown punches, kicks, tried slamming into the Asgardian. Despite landing a few blows, he was still knocked down and forced to submit. He was hurt, but it wasn't too bad. The pain didn't last for more than a day or two. Then the chains were back on for days. He tried again when they were off and the results were the same.
Eventually he learned it was easier to submit than to fight; at least until he came up with a plan.
Today he'd been allowed to be by the window. He was used to Brooklyn and it's towering buildings bustling with energy, and DC with its historic landmarks and bustling metropolitan area. This was different. Asgard felt like a large ancient city with alien creatures. Watching it through the window had been interesting. Watching the Asgardians go by and listening to the little snippets of conversation had been all the entertainment he'd had so far.
It was still better than being chained to a wall back in the cell.
"It's fine," He stretched his arms a bit before taking a step back, away from Loki. "I obviously wasn't going anywhere." In a way, he was glad too see the Asgardian. He could finally move and stretch. It was a relieve to finally stretch his arms over his head. On the other hand, he never knew what Loki would want from him every night. He still didn't even know exactly why he was here.

He obviously needed to remain wary - Steve wasn't resigned to his fate, just yet. But it was nice having someone to spend time with as himself. At least, insomuch as Loki is ever himself.
He smiled, watching Steve stretching, without making any effort to hide his appreciation. He'd need to figure out a way to exercise his pet regularly, soon - otherwise he might start to grow soft, and that was not something Loki wanted.
"Obviously not," he said with a thin-lipped smile and glittering eyes. "I'm going to have a bath. Come." He turned and headed for the adjoining bathing chamber.
